2025 SA Team Selection for IMC
In order to be selected for the South African Teams for the International Mathematics Competition (IMC) learners must:
- be in Grade 3 to Grade 9 (in 2024).
- be registered and fully linked to at least one of their parents on the JIMCOBSA website.
- be enrolled for

- write the first Selection Test (free) any time from 1 November 2024 until
17 December 2024at their own convenience. No official invigilation required.
More information will follow upon completion of the first selection test.
How to participate in Selection Test 1
Follow the point-wise steps in this list if you are unsure or having trouble to participate in Selection Test 1:
- Have you registered with JIMCOBSA in the past, and thus already have a profile? If yes, go to step 9.
- You and at least one of your parents need to register first. Use this link to get started: https://jimcobsa.co.za/register.
- Use your very own email address (and mobile phone number if provided), otherwise your parent/child might not be able to register.
- During registration make sure to avoid typos.
- Only enter one email address, preferrably a personal gmail address, as part of the registration.
- At the end of the registration, a 7-character reference code will be shown. This is your unique reference code that you should always know.
- When you have finished the registration process, you should receive an email to verify that it is your address. Click on the link in this email.
- You can now set a password for your profile. Make sure to remember it.
- When both the learner and parent have reached this point, one of them should log in on the Admin Portal.
- Go to Link Learner or Link to Parent, as applicable.
- Enter the other person’s reference code and request to link to their profile.
- Now the other person should log in on the Admin Portal. Go to Pending Requests and accept the link request.
- Log in as the learner.
- Go to the Enrol for Courses page and enrol for the 2025 IMC Team Selection course, free of charge.
- Click on the Teaching Platform button at the top-left of the screen, this will take you to Moodle.
- Log in on Moodle using the same username and password as for the Admin Portal.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to take the test right away. The duration of the test is 75 minutes.
2025 IMAS Online Training Classes
6 – 24 January 2025
This “course” serves as a follow-up on the 2024 course, now available as Problem Solving Course on the Admin Portal’s Enrol for Courses page.
It is intended for grade 4 to grade 10 learners, who wish to get preparation through online training classes, before writing the 2025 IMAS (International Mathematics Assessments for Schools) Round 1 contest at the end of January. During the preparation classes, the presenter will work through past papers as well as general strategies that can be implemented.
12 hours of intensive training for only R1200!
Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and have those questions answered. All classes will be recorded, however, participants are encouraged to join the live sessions.
We encourage participants to make full use of this course in order to improve their performance.

Problem Solving Course (Videos)
All the classes of the Problem Solving Course that were presented in January 2024 (online) have been recorded. You can now buy access to the videos in which you will find a multitude of helpful content. The problem solving course was based on the International Mathematics Assessment for Schools (IMAS) Round 1.
