IMAS Overview
The first International Mathematics Assessments for School (IMAS) took place in 2011. The IMAS was created by the organizers of IMC in order to promote fairer and more transparent team selection towards IMC as the IMC was becoming more popular and widespread. This was especially important in countries where regions or cities other than those who were already taking part also wanted to take part, but there wasn't enough teams available to award each region/city a team.
The test is set and organized internationally by the IMAS Executive Council, consisting of members from different countries. The assessment takes place annually over two rounds. The entry fee is $3 per participant. Medals are awarded to the top 30% of Round 2 participants who placed in the top 10% in Round 1.
The IMAS is a world class mathematics assessment test and hence is on a rather high level. There are three levels of participation.
- Middle Primary
- Upper Primary
- Junior Secondary
